[biography]
Benjamin Forster is interested in exploring drawing, both as a physical act and as a cognitive process. This interest has manifested itself in his recent Drawing Machine, a reduction of his own understanding of drawing into a computer program that can draw. This project was included in Hatched 09: The National Graduate Exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, as well as the International Symposium on Computational Aesthetics 09 in Victoria, Canada.
Though his relationship with the BEAM Projection Group , Benjamin has developed many site-specific projections in response to facades of numerous public buildings - these include the National Library of Australia, the Street Theatre and the Alinga Street Post Office Tower in Canberra.
Benjamin Forster received a Bachelor of Visual Arts with First Class
Honours
from the Australian National University, and was an
artist in residence at
Canberra Contemporary Art Space in 2009.
In mid 2010 Benjamin will be extending his exploration of drawing into the feild of biological arts
as a resident at SymbioticA,
the Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts.
